Today I am at the Canadian Post Secondary Web Editors Conference at Brock University in St. Catharines.
Take a look here… http://pseweb.ca/
There has been a lot of great content in the first day of sessions so far…
Keynote: It’s the End of the Web as We Know It (and I Feel Fine!) Redux – Mark Greenfield, University at Buffalo, Noel-Levitz
Great keynote to start the day. The takeaway for me was pay attention to mobile devices.
Current students are a great resource for a social media strategy because prospective students want to hear about the experiences of current students.
Discussion around how York University has been using social media. Good discussion, but too policy heavy.
This session showcased a webcasting tool. 20+ minute videos accompanied by ability to discuss underneath. Good concept but YouTube does it better… for free.
Very interesting session about how Ivey is using social media to target a very specific group of prospecitve students. The takeaway here was to find where your audience is online and interact with them.
Best session of the day for me so far. Stewart Foss from http://www.edustyle.net/ gave a walk through of numerous Canadian sites and did a very entertaining job of it.
Great first day and looking forward to more tomorrow.
