Our house was built in the 1970’s. Apparently this was a time period where sliding closet doors with fake wood grain were the height of interior design.
The doors in our basement were functional, and actually do save space since they slide instead open instead of swing, but they were ugly. Rather than replace them, I thought of having some fun and drawing a huge cutaway of an old open wheeled race car.
First I painted the doors with a not quite as dark as black charcoal with a matte finish. You can see the fake wood grain in the second photo.
Then I used a white paint pen do draw the car. Done!
